Sheldrick Wildlife Trust

After breakfast, you’ll head to David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The organization was founded in 1977 by a zoologist known as Dr. Dama Daphne Sheldrick. She founded the wildlife orphanage to honor her late husband who was a naturalist and a founding warden of Tsavo East National park. The Orphans’ Project exists to offer hope for the future of Kenya’s threatened elephant and rhino populations as they struggle against the threat of poaching for their ivory and horn, and the loss of habitat due to human population pressures and conflict, deforestation and drought. Adopt an elephant before you visit and skip the main tourist crowds. This gives you exclusive off-peak access to your orphan, with one-on-one time to hear their story, see where they live and who looks after them and see how the orphanage has saved them from the sad realities of poaching. Return to your hotel for a relaxed evening after the memorable visit.
